Cheryl Meredith - Legal Assistant

What kind of work do you do at Hemminger Law Group Westshore?

I carry out a number of legal and administrative tasks for the amazing people I work for and with. On any given day I can be found carrying out a number of duties from helping our family law clients complete their Financial Statements to drafting a variety of court documents necessary to run a family file.

I frequently assist on personal injury files by drafting Notices of Claim, corresponding with insurance adjusters on our client’s behalf, and many other tasks necessary to keep matters moving towards resolution. I can also be found trying to convince Val that she would not be happy if she moves into my amazing work space in the mezzanine of our new office space (because it’s really super awesome…..sshhhh!)

(Note:  Val says Cheryl's days in the mezzanine are numbered! muwahahaaahhaa)

What is your home town?

I grew up in Coquitlam, B.C. and moved to Maple Ridge during my senior year of high school. I have lived all over Vancouver, and the greater Vancouver metropolitan area before moving to Victoria in 1998.

What do you like most about Langford and the Westshore?

What is not to love about the Westshore?

What are your three favorite places and what makes them your favorite?

1.       Anywhere next to the Love of my life, and my amazing daughters. Truly amazing human beings who remind me daily how grateful I am to be alive and to be living this journey we call life alongside of them.

2.       Exploring my surroundings and new landscapes I have never been, or experienced in a certain way. Because life is an adventure.

3.       Behind my camera. This helps me unwind, distress, and re-connect with my creativity.

Outside of the legal profession what is your passion?

Even though I have taken a bit of a sabbatical from this passion, I am once again reconnecting with my photography and am keen on learning new skills and techniques I have not yet explored.

(Val says, awesome Cheryl. I am glad to see you are reconnecting with your significant talent once again).

What is your spirit animal?

I’d have to say a horse. Strong and beautiful animals. Horses symbolize personal drive, passion, and an appetite for freedom.

How do you deliver your more as party of the more than your ordinary law firm team?

I work hard. I and am dedicated to my job and loyal to my work family. I will always try to go the extra mile and provide the best possible level of service to our lawyers and valued clients.

Other Stuff about Cheryl:

Cheryl completed her legal office assistant program at Camosun College in 2012 and joined us for her practicum. It was then that we decided WE MUST KEEP HER! So, here she is and we are grateful to have her as part of our team.
