How Do You Know If You Need A Lawyer For Business Legal Advice?

It is often hard to determine when you need a lawyer for business legal advice. In some cases, the answer is obvious. For example, if you or your business (or both) are being sued, it would be a very good idea for you to seek advice immediately.

At the same time, some situations may not be so clear. The best thing to do is ask. Michael Sandhu will spend 30 minutes with you at no obligation to you. That way you can get the straight facts about whether or not you need legal advice.

Some people are unsure if they need business legal advice if they are starting a business, dissolving a business, or buying or selling a business.

Sometimes business owners require advice about the provisions of British Columbia’s Employment Standards Act.

At Hemminger Law Group Westshore, we see two different kinds of clients (and all the range in between). We see the type of client who wishes to do everything themselves and would rather do anything than hire a lawyer. These kinds of clients are known as the “do it yourself” type. These types of clients will draft their own materials, for example, and then have their lawyer review it for legalities, consistency and appropriate accuracy in the legal context.

The other type of client does not want to make a legal move of any sort without substantive and detailed legal advice. This type of client is the “hand-holding” type.

We are pleased to assist either type of client (and all grades in between) at Hemminger Law Group Westshore.

We think a good rule is to simply ask us whether or not we think it prudent you hire a lawyer for your issue.

Often there are times when it makes a lot more sense to hire a lawyer right away rather than waiting for things to fall apart. It can avoid costly and time-consuming legal problems later. Sometimes hiring a lawyer right away can save you a lot of cash in the long run, even when you take into account that you had to pay some legal fees.

Some of our clients like to use their lawyer as a coach or legal business consultant. They are the type of client who drafts their own contracts and agreements and then brings them to Michael for him to review in detail. He is also ready to answer questions that our clients may have about the contracts they have been presented with. This is a very cost effective way to get great legal help without having legal fees become a significant barrier.

Regardless of how you approach your business decisions, you will want to find a lawyer who is not only knowledgeable about business matters, but who will deliver great service.
